April 2, 2014 - This Summer Michael Franti & Spearhead, will launch Soulshine - a concert tour that incorporates music, yoga, art and a healthy, sustainable, active lifestyle. SOJA, Brett Dennen and Trevor Hall will be joining the North American Tour along with Special Guest Yoga Teachers, such as Canada’s Ryan Leier. The 30+ city tour kicks off on June 19th in Southern California and will make its way across North America, ending in Nashville, TN at the Woods at Fontanel on August 2nd.  

With a collective reach of over 90 million impressions, the four bands: Michael Franti & Spearhead, SOJA, Brett Dennen and Trevor Hall, come together for a tour that embraces their passions and love of music, dance, yoga and sustainability.  Soulshine will be affordably priced, offering activities to keep people of all ages entertained throughout the day and night.

Each afternoon on the Soulshine tour will begin with a mass yoga and acoustic music jam with Michael Franti & Friends, led by some of today's most inspiring teachers from across North America, including Ryan Leier.  The yoga session is designed for people of all experience levels, ages, shapes and sizes and will feature artists participating side by side with fans. Michael Franti has been practicing yoga for over 12 years, having appeared in numerous publicans such as Yoga Journal, Origin, Mantra and Yoga magazines. The tour will be incorporating yoga studio networks across the nation and inviting the founders, teachers and students of the studios to the shows to support the tour, share the lifestyle and have fun. Italian-rooted and Napa Valley based winery and restaurant brand, Ca’ Momi Napa Valley, has come on as the official wine sponsor for the tour, sharing in the philosophy lifestyle of sustainability, authenticity and mindfulness, local and organic foods presence in both business and personal interactions. Mantra and Origin magazines are the official media partners of the Soulshine tour.

Passionate and inspirational, Ryan Leier brings a creative energy to every class he teaches; whether in his own One Yoga studios or as an ambassador of yoga to communities around the world. Equally devoted to continuing his studies as to teaching, his distinct expression of ancient traditions touches his students’ hearts. Ryan’s innovative spirit has led him to create Vinyasa Yoga for Youth, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth through the practice of yoga.

The afternoon Yoga and acoustic music jam will give way to the full concert in the evening.  The concert itself will feature unforgettable moments from four of today’s most passionate, authentic and incredible live acts. 

Michael Franti & Spearhead have earned a reputation as one of the most electrically charged and ultimately unforgettable live acts in the business. Michael Franti has sold over 2.5million singles of his hit song “Say Hey (I Love You)” and has charted his albums in Billboard’s Top 40 along with frequent appearances on David Letterman, Leno, Conan, Oprah, Ellen and CNN. Franti & Spearhead released the acclaimed album All People last year and have been touring ever since.  Franti is recognized as a pioneering force in music as a vehicle for social activism. Trevor Hall realized at a very young age that music was more than just a passion. As an eleven year old, playing harmonica beside his father in the cradle of the weeping willows of South Carolina, music quickly became his most intimate companion, guide and creative outlet. Trevor quickly broke through the music scene, with such early accomplishments in his career as having a song recorded on the Shrek the Third soundtrack, as well as joining a series of sold-out tours with artists such as Steel Pulse, The Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, Matisyahu, Michael Franti and Colbie Callait.  Trevor’s self-titled debut album debuted on Billboard’s Heatseeker chart at #7 in 2009, he was named one of the Top 20 New Artists by Music Connection magazine, in 2010 MTV named him one of the twenty emerging artists for 2010, and in 2012 CBS used his hit “Brand New Day” for the promo of their CBS This Morning show. The Ca' Secco Bellini

Sometimes the day calls for more than just sparkling. When combined with a juice or essence of your choice, Ca’ Secco can make for a great cocktail for such an occasion! Try one of our own favorite recipes- The Ca’ Secco Bellini.

 

Ca’ Secco Bellini
Adapted from the Famous “Bellini” Recipe: (est. Venice 1948)

INGREDIENTS:

2 ripe pureed white peaches (or peach nectar)

+ 1/4 ounce simple syrup

+ 1/4 ounce lemon juice + 16 ounces of chilled Ca’ Secco

 

TO PREPARE:

For each serving, pour 2 to 4 tablespoons of the desired fruit puree into a Champagne flute. 
Slowly pour in Ca’ Secco to fill. Gently stir to blend.

Kathy Oates, our Director of Export Sales, diaries her Ca' Momi  adventures in Europe--with plenty of our wines in tow.

Ca’ Momi wines are traveling the world!  Our Bianco di Napa, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Cabernet and others have been tasted – and enjoyed! – by hundreds of people in London, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Dusseldorf, and Brussels.  

Our wines are currently sold in Denmark, Canada, throughout Asia, and parts of the Caribbean.  Look for them to be served in restaurants and available in select wine shops in even more countries soon.  Busy and great time for Ca’ Momi!

Funny thing,  too – when we arrived today in Brussels, we couldn’t get into our hotel because President Obama was in there having a meeting.  So we had to kill some time with mountains of luggage at a local brew pub a few blocks away.

Ca' Momi Pours at the 2014 Oscar® ShortsHD™ Awards

Ca’ Momi’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and Reserve Chardonnay were poured at the star-studded 2014 Oscar® ShortsHD™ Awards ceremony, held March 1 at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills.
 

Valentina Guolo-Migotto and Dario De Conti, two of Ca’ Momi Napa Valley’s owners, were in attendance as well. “It was exciting to be a part of the Shorts Awards reception, and to share our award-winning wines with the nominees and other guests,” said Guolo-Migotto. “We were thrilled that our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and Reserve Chardonnay were a part of the 2014 Oscars®.”

Ca' Momi Purchases Historic Carneros Property

We recently acquired two prime Napa Valley vineyards, including a 10.5-acre pinot noir vineyard from legendary Napa winemaker Kent Rasmussen, and a neighboring nine-acre vineyard planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Merlot vines. Both vineyards are located in Napa Valley's Carneros region.

 In the early 1970's, Mr. Rasmussen successfully planted Pinot Noir and was pivotal in making Carneros one of the world's premier growing regions. 

The grapes from these vineyards have been a part of our Napa Valley wines for some time. We love the fruit, and the wines have been very successful. We really believe that the future of Napa wine is in Carneros, and are thrilled to join the fantastic family of wine producers in the region. These vineyards will secure continuity of style for our Reserve Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for decades, if not generations to come.

The Pinot Noir vineyard is fully permitted for a winery and tasting room, and we are happy to announce that we are moving forward with plans for a winery on that property. It will give us additional winemaking capacity, and a beautiful location for hosting visitors.

We wanted all wines in our portfolio to share major design elements and to more accurately represent the quality of the wine. Ca' Momi was thrilled to learn that we received a double gold medal from the 2013 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition for our 2010 Rosso di Napa! All of the gold medal winners were invited to an exclusive tasting event in San Francisco to pour award winning wines. The 2010 Rosso di Napa is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, and Petit Sirah  from our vineyards in Napa Valley. It's considered a great, drinkable red with bright strawberry and raspberry flavors, a velvety texture and full mouth feel. It finishes softly with a medium-bodied and complex palate that is loaded with fruit. This is considered a great "food" wine, meaning that it is not overpowering and easily paired with many different dishes. We are especially proud to have taken the double gold with this one as it represents the best selection of our Napa Valley vineyards.

Harvesting the chardonnay

Harvest is in full swing, and our vineyard crew is tirelessly hand picking chardonnay fruit at our Carneros vineyard.


 
If you have ever harvested grapes, you will have an appreciation for the hard work and long hours that are demanded this time of the year.



Fortunately for our cellar and vineyard crews, the weather has been temperate, mitigating a long list of unwanted challenges.
