Our Winery
We would love to invite you to see our winery in Napa. We would love to tell you about its carved walnut Renaissance doors that we imported from Padua, and the master stoneworker we brought over from Venice. We’d love to tell you about the Roman frescoes and the Mediterranean tile roof. But we can’t.
We can’t because none of this exists. When we started Ca' Momi, we made a very serious decision to make really good wines from wonderful grapes. And we wanted people to be able to drink our wines every night for dinner. We couldn’t do that if we built a towering monument to wine as our winery.
So we didn’t build that monument. We make our wine in a modest warehouse in the Napa Valley. It’s surrounded not by a sculpture garden or a wildlife preserve, but by a parking lot. It has plain concrete walls, which keep the temperature just as cool as any with frescoes. The fermentation tanks look like fermentation tanks, and the barrels look like barrels. Even the bottling line looks just like a bottling line.
On the other hand, our grapes are sourced and hand-picked from some of the finest vineyards in the Napa Valley and California. When it comes to the wines themselves, the only real difference between us and some of our neighbors in Napa is the cost of our building — and the prices we can charge for our wines.
Our wines are meant to be enjoyed! Salute!
