“CA’ MOMI” ENOTECA OPENS AT OXBOW MARKET
Classic Italian pizza, pastries, regional wines add flavor to Oxbow Market
Napa, CA – Ca’ Momi, three Italians making wine in the Napa Valley, opened a classic Italian pizzeria, pasticceria and enoteca wine bar in the Oxbow Market. The new business will pay tribute to the land of their birth and the food and wines that they love.
Owners Dario De Conti, Valentina Guolo-Migotto and Stefano Migotto explain: “When we came to America, we knew we wanted to make wine here, and to capture some of the spirit of our family traditions. In Italy, wine is a part of life, and we combine it with wonderful food. In the new enoteca we will have all kinds of authentic treats: real pizza—the classic Neapolitan style we like to make from our wood burning oven; tramezzini, crostate and crostatine di frutta, baci di dama, zaetti, tiramisu’, cantucci and biscotti from the pasticceria. And of course great wines.”
The Enoteca features not only Ca Momi wines, but also a selection of wine discoveries from smaller regions and producers in Italy. “We will bring in wines from our friends around Italy, always looking for something different and interesting---something that we think captures the spirit of Italian life,” says Dario.
Ca’ Momi wines are named for the family home in Northern Italy. The name pays tribute to Momi dea Bionda, a local character who was famous for his obsession with the house, his grapes and his wine. Momi’s protective spirit is still watching over the property. In his later years he liked to ride around the property in an old motorcycle, with his blind dog sitting in the side car. He would patrol the vineyards, armed with a rifle, just to make sure that his grapes were safe. Ca’ Momi captures the spirit of our family traditions. Of course, we are just a little bit obsessive about our wines and our food, too!
